Advisory for venture-backed founders, investors & boards

We get it. We've built and run companies from Day 0 and 3 people in the basement to $500MM in revenue and 3,500 employees across 17 countries. We've worked through the tough calls. The late nights. The sceptical boards.

AFINEA provides strategy, mentorship, interim leadership, and board craft. We have three exits behind us. We're not consultants. We're the founders and operators a founder wants in their corner to mentor them as they grow with the business.

01A point of view

The hardest problem is rarely the obvious one.

Founders often arrive focused on the immediate problem. The real work is identifying the decision that will change the outcome.

Speed comes from clarity, not hurry.

A team moves fastest when it knows the two or three things that matter now.

A board is a resource, not an audience.

Managed well, it's the sharpest room you have. Managed poorly, it's a tax.

The person and the company grow together.

Or neither does. The pressure is real — and deserves real, separate support.

02What we do

Five ways we sit alongside a founder.

Strategy

Cut through the noise to the handful of decisions that move the company — and the order to make them in.

Mentorship

A senior operator in your corner, on call for the calls that keep you up at night — no agenda but yours.

Interim Leadership

A steady, experienced hand in the seat while you search, scale, or reset — accountable from day one.

Board & Governance

Build and chair a board that sharpens the company instead of slowing it down. This is craft — and we've practised it.

The Whole Human

Confidential counselling

Performance and wellbeing are the same problem. We support the person behind the founder — stress, burnout, and the weight of the job — through confidential one-to-one counselling, held entirely separately from the business. More about counselling

AFINEA Labs

The next generation of companies won’t look like the last.

Agents are changing how software gets made, how teams are shaped, and how value is created. The advantage belongs to companies designed around them from the first line of code.

So we’re leaning in — building rather than predicting.

From first principles to production

One person. A fleet of agents.

An experiment in agentic-only development: products designed, coded, documented, and tested by AI-driven teams. Rethinking not just how software is made — but what a software company can be.

A quieter kind of support — held entirely separately

Building a company takes a toll that never shows up in a board deck.

Confidential, one-to-one counselling — led by a registered social worker — for the moments that have nothing to do with strategy and everything to do with being a person. Private, unhurried, and completely separate from any advisory or commercial engagement.

06How we work

Three ways an engagement takes shape.

A standing retainer

A senior operator on call between the big moments — the quiet counsel that compounds over quarters, not the one-off deck.

A board seat or chair

We take the seat, help build the board, and run the room so it sharpens the company instead of taxing your attention.

An interim stint

A steady, experienced hand in the chair while you search, scale, or reset — accountable from day one, out when the job is done.
